I have a back to wall top mounted toilet seat that I have removed (forcibly) to replace. Problem is I can't remove what I suspect are butterfly clip hinges. I have tried everything. I pull up while turning but it doesn't help. What other ideas are there?

Actually it's very clean. What you see there is my efforts to try and get it out. Not dirt.
Saw them off from above, then replace with new ones
Yes I am considering that as it seems nothing else is working.
I've never seen an Englefield pan - then I saw your NZ Flag. There might be some sort of expanding rubber bungs holding the brackets.
