To save me boring someone in the pub with this, I will share it here.

To get a new cistern lever onto an existing toilet flush spindle which doesn't seem to fit very easily...

Pop the lever into very hot water, it expands a little, then it goes on easily.

Make sure you get it the right way round, or you may not get it off again!

Good tip, but better shared with others over a few beers in the pub. next to a group of train spotters.
