Who said that we do have to? - certainly not me. As I've said, whether it is considered "right, desirable or inevitable" is a matter of (personal, national, cultural, academic etc.) opinion. The point I made in the sentence following the one you quoted was that evolution of language was, in fact, much the same before the new communication technologies came into being.
