Are there any disadvantages to having the towel rads off the primary circuit (so they are on whenever the boiler is on for HW or CH)?

I have been suggested this as an option to duel fuel towel rads.

Many thanks.

1. The main disadvantage is heating them when no heat is needed. E.g. when the hot water is heating in summer.
2. You can get round this by having TRVs on the towel rails.
3. A second disadvantage, in my view minor, of using this approach as an alternative to dual fuel is that you can't turn them on independently should you ever want to.

Thanks for the response.

1. I am hoping I don't need them too much in the summer and the water will be on at a similar time to the towels usage .
2. Yup, will have TRVs
3. Presumably I can turn 1 TRV down and keep the other on.

I have this setup, which I like. If anything I find them a little lacking in the summer - towel rails don't give out much heat and the hot water isn't on much in the summer. I doubt you'll need trv's - I haven't.
