Whenever I install central heating systems (in my own houses) I always connect the bathroom rad/ towel rail directly off the boiler or on the hot water circuit. This ensures a towel drying facility whenever there is hot water available. Is this common practice with heating engineers?

In the old days it was common to have them on the hot water circuit but not any more. But they were copper inside and were ok in that situation.

Modern steel towel rails connected to the hot water system is a definate no no.

I bow to your pro. advice but can you explain why. Purely for my education.

Black sludge in radiators comes partly from fresh water rusting the radiators from the inside. Would you want to wash in that?
