track lighting

I've got a sloping ceiling at the end of my kitchen covering an area 3m x 1m and I want put put strip/spotlights in (I can't use downlighters as there isn't enough space in the roof area). Anyone got any suggestions as to the type and number of lights I should use? They will be over the worksurface.
