i was wondering if someone would be able to help

i want to paint up the stairs and transition from one colour to another

at the bottom i would like it to be white and at the top where the window is a nice light colour
was wondering if anyone can suggest a nice way to transition from one colour to another

the only other option is that i paint the stairway a single colour only

Paint the wall to the left of the staircase white, then change the colour in the corner to the left of the poster?

It would look odd if you did it half way up the stairs.

as emilybronte says
or be more daring
draw a line at 90% to the stairs to meet the downstairs ceiling /upstairs overstairs wall at the point the coving ends
this will give you an angled line around 48 degrees
take a point centrally on the line draw a big circle anywhere between the full length off the angle from stairs to coving or say half the size
you now have a choice off all the circle a colour between or different to the other 2 areas
or the circle below the line is the upstairs colour and the upstairs bit the down stairs colour
daft as hell but worth thinking about ;)
