Hello,
We have a Triton Opal. We also have a problem :(
a while ago the shower kept swapping between hot and cold but then the summer came along and we found it worked fine on the summer mode (single red line).
I've seen the post //www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=1368264#1368264
and this describes the problem I have.
seco services suggests
check the elements for resistance with a multi meter.
12-18 ohms on each element. with the showers mains power off.
you can also watch each relay to see if they are working.
also check the bottom tco for continuity or any burnt connections around it.

I have yet to take the cover off to check the heating elements or the Relays. I'm happy with testing the resistance of the elements but I just wanted to check something before doing it. It says about checking the Relays but I was wondering if anyone could let me know any more information about doing this. I'm not a sparky but hopefully not stupid either. the question is would I need to keep the cover off but put the power back on then watch the what the relays do if the elements turn out to test okay?
Any help much appreciated :D
Thanks

yes you have to leave the cover off while running the shower.
test the elements with the mains power off at the pullcord.

check the bottom tco don't look like this.
burnt or damaged.

when you say swapping between hot and cold.
do you mean the temp of the water is cycling hot/cold every few seconds
or the lights are alterating every few seconds ?

Hey Seco services thanks for getting back quickly :)
It was a while ago so I'll try and remember as well as I can. It most definitely wasn't the lights altering but it was that it didn't get hot enough and then went cold. I'm really quite sure this is it. Sometimes we got lucky and it was just fine :) but ever since using the summer setting it worked just fine. I really should have investigated at the time :(
I'll do the checks tonight and post back.
thanks

Okay, sorry for the slightly late response but last night disappeared :s
anyway tonight I have done the tests.
- The two elements both have an impeedance of 12.3 so this implies they work.
- The relay doesn't come on when the second heat button is pressed. I think mine may be a failed PCB board.
- The TCO looks very good.

from this information do you think it sounds sensible to go ahead with the PCB replacement? Any suggestions as to who to buy from?

Thanks

when selecting the highest heat setting does the neon light ?
if the neon lights on the cover but stll no response from relay
then yes i would opt for the main pcb.

i always use george at the showerdoc for my parts.
check your part n0 first on pcb.

common one is TRITO-7073333
retail about £63+pp
