Would I be right in thinking that if I have a 15mm cold feed going into a Myson aerjec I are very likely to have problems?

Not if it's fitted correctly.

They can fill up with sludge if the system isn't clean.

The unit (Myson airject) is fitted in the correct orientation, however, the boiler when starting up produces loads of gurgling/whooshing noises, and you can hear water in the pipework in other places (it's in my mum's bungalow) the aerject has been there for 15 years..............is this likely to be suspect?

Could be blocked or partially blocked.

I would check the header tank has water innit first.

Yeah, Seco, thanks to you, but now I know it's the right way round but it isn't doing it's job I naturally suspect that it could be faulty.

DIA, I checked the expansion tank and it has water in.

Whilst searching on the net about these aerject's, I came across a forum discussing these things, one of the lads said that if the cold feed was soldered in 15mm it would lead to sludgding up...................what'dya think?

not really i've seen them blocked solid with 22mm cold feeds.

might be worth drain the system abit and see if the water drops in the tank.
whats the water in the tank like ?

........................wet :D ........sorry mate, pathetic I know, but the child in me couldn't resist it, the water?........I will look tomorrow.

I think it would be sensible to replace the sucker as you've all said it's likely to be the problem.

Out of interest, why does a cold feed tend to get block up where it meets the hot water?

who said you was wet behind the ears ?
