Why 10 years?
Tax revenue to the Govt would be at least £5 billion a year so the country would be a little better off, plus a few thousand additional jobs.

when oil and gas prices are stupidly high, the tax revenue is also stupidly high, if we were still utilising the north sea in the way we should be, that extra gov income could subsidise our energy costs
And on top of all that, if things got seriously out of hand, major war or the likes, an act of parliament could force these oil companies to land the oil here. (not sure if we have any oil refineries left, but that is another disgrace)
The whole process from licensing through to production takes about 10 years.

As the link in your following post says, most of the North Sea is already licensed. From drilling to spudding is usually done in months not years. The long grind of surveying and mapping has also already been done.

A lot of Trumptards drink in Wetherspoons, my mate is one, he is a big fan of Trump and supports his war on Iran.
We were in Spoons last Saturday and he was banging about Trump and then his wife phoned him and asked him to send her a £1000 to pay for home heating oil, he almost fell of his barstool, he said WTF, it was less than 500quid last time, his wife said the price of oil had doubled in the last 2 weeks.
I said to him, stop moaning, if you want a war to watch on TV you have to pay to view, it ain't free despite what Trump tells you on Twitter.
I said , if it makes you feel any better Trump has lifted sanctions on Iran and Russia to export oil, so your 500 quid could end up in Iran and help pay for a few more drones.Lol.

Another problem with everyone seeing how closing down the oil paths through the Strait of Hormuz is that they can just keep doing it so even if Trump manages to open it up then they will just do it again. The Houthis are probably going to join in with this and close off parts of the red sea then the Saudis wont get their oil out of Saudi, once again we all suffer. Its a complete mess.
It was a figure I read from a company who had pulled out of the North Sea so maybe not accurate. The headline rate is 78%.
Why do you believe the Americans .
They have lied about every war they started in the Middle East.
The invasion of Kuwait was based on lies, the war in Libya was based on lies and the war in Iraq was based on lies.
Explain why this war on Iran should be any different.
