I am currently renovating an old house and in the pantry off the kitchen I want to put in a fridge, washing machine and tumble dryer. The floor has had to be dug out due to damp and so is it approx 12" below it's finished level.

In order to put the ventialtion hose out from the tumble I had originally thought about taking it up and over the door and out the external wall in the pantry. However, given the floor has been dug up I am wondering it if it is actually possible to build in ventilation under the floor and then seal it all in. Can this be done or does the ventilation tube from a tumble dryer have to be higher than the dryer? If i can ventilate under the floor what sort of tubing and attachement arrangement can I use to do this as obviously the floppy tube they provide will certainly not work.

Any views would be a great help.

Are you thinking of putting a ducting on top of the damp proof membrane in the floor or going through it, as that would compromise it's performance. Also it will still have to be vented to the outside so I'm a bit unsure how you would achieve this. But I cannot think of any reason it should need to be higher than the machine. Pehaps a sketch or pic. may help. The length of the proposed run may govern what you propose, but there are plenty of ducting suppliers if you do a google search or you could possibly even use 100 or 150 mm drainage pipes & fittings.
