Turf it or seed it?

Can you not use any type of polythene sheeting ? I just thought about it, maybe get too hot and burn the grass ?? Unless your father has a vented type sheeting maybe ?

That was in the mid 50s masona almost 50 years ago when polythene was new.
There was plenty of natural ventilation.
It was similar to a very large cloche and not as hot as a polytunnel.
I used turf on my own garden as there was no topsoil.
It was buried under 3' of blue clay. :(

I have recently been ringing around for turf and was suprised how many companies do it.

Prices go from £3.00+ to £1.25 a square metre. Quality can vary though so ask around, maybe a local gardener can help.

Next door paid peanuts and ended up with a carpet of dandelions.

British Seed Houses have a good site and do grass seed called Sat Green which seems pretty good.

i agree whole heartedly you get what you pay for and always get several quotes, which is what item 9 is all about
