What ways are there to test the condition of TV coax? i.e. continuity/ resistance/ impedance.
If so what results would be expected/acceptable?
Thanks.

The only realistic test you can do is continuity. Connect the screen to the core at one end and us a DMM to check for continuity of the other.

To measure the impedance of the cable you will need a time domain reflectometer - They are as expensive as they sound and are certainly way OTT for a poor TV signal.

Coax is odd stuff - The signal actually flows on the surface of the conductors, not through them. Therefore, if the cable has oxidised over time this can lead to the cable being quite lossy - the high frequency signals struggle to get down it.

If in doubt - replace it. Don't buy the cheapest. Any CAI approved will be fine.
