Ive recently bought a house that had a back boiler, ive ripped it out and was planning on putting a tv, sky box and xbox built into the hole left.

is there any precautions i should take with the chimney?
dampness?
False Pot?
or Ventillation?

any info would be great

if the flue is no longer in use you should put a ventilated cap on the pot and also ventilate it at the base.

Considering your putting expensive electricals in there it would probably be best to seal it very well to stop the dust and water and then fit a vent on the side of the brest somewhere close to but above where you have sealed it.

Also you may want to think about the heat of the appliances especially xbox's as they are know to overheat and that is because people put them in tight spaces with no ventilation.

your a gent!!!

thats very helpful,

where would i get something like a ventillation cap and is this something i could manage my self?

will a few pilot hole with a grill over it at side of chimney suffice?

Cap known as an Elephants foot @ builders supplies  You need to take a brick sized hole out the side

you simply need to set it into the pot, no mortaring required so its very simple to do assuming you don't mind the heights.
