Been using TW&E clips from screwfix for some time now, but they never seem to stay in thermolite blocks. Does any1 else have this problem? Where can i get some decent ones as most places sell the same tower brand
Try clips in the mortar bed, often it's a much better fix (if the mortar is hard ).
The other alternative is to use some of these:-
Cable tie bases, about £6 for 100 from Maplin. I have a friend who drops of a bag of a 1000 FOC every now and then.
I'm pretty sure the 1000 bags are RS Components goods.
If you wanted to stick with clips and pins, the old boy way would be to drill holes and squeeze a dowel in, then pin on dowl.
Actually, I'm pretty sure you can get rawlplugs which rather than have a screw hole have a tiny pin hole, just for cable clips- I'll look on the net and post back
Tower do a range of cable clip plugs, here's a PDF for the spec. I can't find any suppliers, but I'm sure someone here will know where you can get them from.

All the houses round my way are old brick. It is all uneven and the mortar is soft. A clip won't go into the brick because it's too hard, and the mortar just crumbles.
You can never get oval conduit in either because the walls are so uneven it ends up proud in the chase.
Even using the pin plugs in thermalite isn't going to work.
What are you clipping to thermailte for? Prior to plastering, or for a finished product? Maybe you should re-think the install method
C&Gstudent - Re your oval being proud of the chase......no excuse.....dig that chase deeper! All the younguns are all same - I loose coundt how many times I have to tell the apprentices to go deeper, as there isn't going to be a thick enough layer of plaster over the top!
