Hi I have just taken delivery of a twilight fld camera but cannot fathom out how to separate the base from the body. It is disappointing that CCTVDirect dont give instructions.

normally screw off there may be a lock grub screw.

There wasn't a grub screw so I had to telephone them today.

To assist anybody else if they buy one of these here is what you do:

Holding the base in one hand, you then hold the locking collar in the other hand and twist it anti clockwise (anti clockwise with the base in the palm of your hand).

When looking at the camera from the side the base is about 5mm wide, then you have the locking collar which is about 12mm wide. The next piece holds the spherical camera in position, and is held in place by the locking collar below it.

On a test connection the camera looks like it is of a decent quality. I will position it in situ over the weekend.

WHAT HEIGHT SHOULD I POSITION IT AT? It will cover a drive way about 16 feet wide (from house to the perimeter) by about 38 feet long. I realise I should have asked CCTV Direct when speaking to them today, but I forgot!

depends really, i tend to mount most cameras at 1st floor level, good for faces and out of reach, but it depends what you want to look at.

It is to cover a drive way about 16 feet wide (from house to the perimeter) by about 38 feet long, to see people entering the property and cover 3 parked vehicles.

I will have a camera looking from each end of the house.

Well, on a good day I suppose I could be called one, been doing it for 40+yrs, but I know nothing about CCTV, and I don't want to.

i will hopefully set it up today or tomorrow John and will let you know what it is like.

On a test in a pretty dark room, it appears the quality is a lot better than the Swan camera it will replace.

Got the camera up yesterday afternoon.

Advantages: wider viewing angle than the Swann, covered a greater distance, more clarity from a much improved image, overall very impressed with it.

Disadvantage: it stopped working within a couple of hours, before night fall, so I dont know what the image will be lack at night time (although the leds still lit up when the lens was covered). I had to put the old Swann camera pack up. I will have to ring CCTV Direct tomorrow to arrange a replacement.

Out of interest, what PSU are you using?

The the only leads attached were the BNC connector and power. Other than that there were no other leads.

The PSU and leads were purchased with the camera.

I have reported it to CCTVDirect and just await a returns number from them (which can take up to 2 days )
