Two gang dimmer COM terminal too small

I wish to replace an existing two gang fixture with a dimmer equivalent.

The existing switch feeds a wire into a COM terminal and the wire is then doubled back to connect to the other COM terminal.

The new dimmer terminals are smaller and seem to be designed for a single wire, so the doubled back wire doesn't fit.

What is the simplest workaround?

Other brand dimmer terminals appear to be similarly small...

is the backbox deep enough to put a wago connector in - so the wire for the COMS goes into a wago and then 2 out to the dimmer ????

usually dimmers are deeper and so need a deep backbox anyway - so maynot be enough room
i have put 2 wires into a dimmer in the past - maybe different ones now

I suspect a small Wago 221 or similar might fit. Probably the best option... Thanks!

I don't know why Wago is the first choice for this sort of thing*. Great if you have some, but you can't buy just one, usually they are in packs of 10 minimum.
Simply a single bit of small choc block with work just fine.

*IF you go for WAGO, you'll need a 3-way one eg 221-413

If the conductors are 1.5, it will be tricky.

Is the back box 25mm deep?

If so, does it have 4 lugs?

You will need to bend back the top and bottom ones.

Reject it as not fit for purpose and buy a better make.

Given how common it seems to be these days to run the circuit cable from switch to switch, people are making dimmers which won't take 2 wires?

Are you looking at reputable makes?

Aren't Wago 221 connectors half the height of a choc box?

I have not used a dimming switch in years, when the CFL replaced tungsten I removed them all, but I can see that some people still use them.

As to purpose, not sure what the purpose is? I want a dim light in my bedroom when I wake in the middle of the night, I don't want three GU10 spotlights shining in my eyes, but the main thing is I want to turn on the lights from my bed, so either a remote control, or voice control.

I would say use smart bulbs, this is how I have done it, as I can also adjust the colour temperature, in fact even the colour, but with our living room lights, 8 x smart bulbs gets expensive, getting cheaper, last one I bought was just £5, but still £40 for smart bulbs, and a dimming switch can be cheaper, I looked, and it seems you can get a dimmer switch for £15, so it is a cheap option, but a quick look at the likes of Screwfix, and one sees you can pay over £40.

The use of a connector block, be it maintain free or not, does not matter, seems simple method.
