Hi there, would appreciate any advice here as my downstairs is freezing!

Have an old vokera combi with micro bore to the rads.

I have 6 rads in total 3up, 3 downstairs. but 2 of them down stairs will not even get luke warm, and the pipe work leading to the valves is cold too.

the other 4 rads are fine,

Ive bled them, turned all the other rads off to try and force some heat through and played about with the themo valve to see if it wasnt sticking.
and the lockshields are fully open on offending rads.

any idea's??

sound slike a possible blockage as you have tried to rid a possible airlock.

Try taking the offending rads off the wall and open each valve into a bucket or out via hose. See what the flow (if any) is like to see if you have a blockage.

Probably sludged up. Disconnect one of the rads, lift off wall and see what tips out, or flushes out with the help of a hose pipe. Then open each rad valve in turn to check for free flow to valves. That should give you, and us, a good idea as to what the problem is.

thanks for quick response.

if i take the rad off the wall and re-open the valves will this tell me if there is a blockage/airlock?

In other words will it be simple to diognose once rad is off?

cheers

It will certainly tell you if there is a blockage and also quite likely to pull any airlock through. You will have to keep topping the pressure back up though on the boiler.

thanks again i will try this and let you know the outcome!

if it is a blockage, what would be the next step?

Hi,

Is your system a 'closed' one? I have just had a similar problem, although I must admit that I was getting some heat to the bottom of my radiators (they just weren't bleeding correctly).

It turned out that the pressure in my system was extremely low.

Here is the link to my post giving more details. http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=43183

However, it does sound more like a blockage of some sort, but thought it might be worth checking the pressure as a 'long shot'

Good luck.

Gary
