We have been doing some modifications to our property recently,we have a shower up stairs(8.5kw)and the same down stairs.after following the cable rout we found that there is a 10mm cable from the c/u(45a) which runs into a double rcd (50a each),from where both shower cables spur off to the egsisting shower units. Is this right?

the way you describe it as wired might not be dangerous as such, but if both are used it could keep trippin out. ideally you should have some inda interlock so only 1 can be used at a time. most house supplies arent adequate enough for more than 1 shower to be connected

Thanks for the quick response, fortunatly we try to shower togeather so unaware of any tripping if used at same time.

well doesnt this mean they are both used at the same time? which by my understanding of your wiring explanation, is a technical impossibility (45A MCB) :?

Definitions of together on the Web: assembled in one place
*sound of penny dropping*

but it could be interpreted the other way surely? Together in time, ie at the same time

Could be, but in the context rules it out in this case

Sorry for the confusion,I meant together as in only one shower running!.I was looking for info, not trying to give to much info!!
