Type Of Sand For Repointing

I have a bit of repointing to do on the back of the house and along the roof ridge of an outbuilding, what type of sand would be best for this?

I was intending to use yellow building sand but someone mentioned its best to use silver sand to get the correct colour? Any advice would be appreciated.

Don't listen to that someone.

Building sand for the walls. Building and sharp sand (30/70) for roofs.
