Extension is nearing completion now and plaster will probably be done in abt a weeks time.

Have opted to do the painting myself as it seems a job that i could do myself.

Just wondering what layers should i need to use on freshly plastered walls?

i just assumed it would be a base coat and then emulsion or is there/should there be more layers involved? thanks alot

A mist coat (diluted about 10% with water, look on the tin for ratio) two top coats to finish.
You must let the plaster dry till an even colour then use a paint for new plaster , which is porous and will allow drying to continue, Dulux Supermatt is a good one.

PS also check the plaster is not over polished (very shiny) it will stop the mist coat soaking in, if it is just give a very light sand with abrasive paper to take off the shine.(y)
