Typical cost per meter

Hi,

What would be a rougth for the typical cost per m2 to skim a platerboard ceiling (26m2). I presume the cost per m2 would be slightly less for the walls. I'm going to get a couple of quotes but I'm trying to work out what to budget for.

I don't think you will get many plasterers giving a quote per metre square, in a domestic situation. Some will charge by the hour, others by the day, or a quote for the whole job. I wouldn't charge any differently either, whether it was for a ceiling or a wall...A plasterer can spend a day doing a straightforward 20 or 30 m2,,, or a day, doing a fiddly, awkward, time consuming 3 or 4 m2. I normally give a price, based on the prep/ work, and the materials involved, and what I thought the job was worth,,, to me. Good luck to you anyway.

The main thing to worry about is whether he is any good or not. Doesn't matter how much per metre if he's rubbish.

Absolutely, there's a happy medium, that's why 2 or 3 quotes from rated tradesmen is always the best way.
