Hi,

What would be a rougth for the typical cost per m2 to skim a platerboard ceiling (26m2). I presume the cost per m2 would be slightly less for the walls. I'm going to get a couple of quotes but I'm trying to work out what to budget for.

Thanks for any advice

I don't think you will get many plasterers giving a quote per metre square, in a domestic situation. Some will charge by the hour, others by the day, or a quote for the whole job. I wouldn't charge any differently either, whether it was for a ceiling or a wall...A plasterer can spend a day doing a straightforward 20 or 30 m2,,, or a day, doing a fiddly, awkward, time consuming 3 or 4 m2. I normally give a price, based on the prep/ work, and the materials involved, and what I thought the job was worth,,, to me. Good luck to you anyway. ;)

The main thing to worry about is whether he is any good or not. Doesn't matter how much per metre if he's rubbish.

Absolutely, there's a happy medium, that's why 2 or 3 quotes from rated tradesmen is always the best way.
