Approaching my Yaris Cross (flat 12v battery)......
Using the key plipper there's no response to anything - it won't unlock, the mirrors won't unfold.......nowt.
I get in the passenger door with the mechanical key, and open up. The alarm doesn't sound.
Bonnet up, fuse box lid off and connect my emergency supply and the alarm blares - but it's silenced by the plipper, thankfully!
Within a few seconds or so I'm able to start the car and away I go.
However......
Last time I drove to Hexham (12 miles) parked up, went shopping and returned 20 mins later. The car unlocked but wouldn't say READY on the dash. Called the AA, who jump started the thing and then it was off to Toyota for me.......rather annoyed by now! Hence the new larger 12v battery and it's been fine since - but the longest it's been left was for 8 days.

P.S The system employed by Motties vehicle seems to be the obvious way to go!
