I had a complete new pressurized system fitted a couple of years ago situating the boiler in the loft. All's been fine, until it started getting cold this winter, when the boiler seems to have developed a fault. A few minutes after the boiler first comes on it emits a high-pitched whining noise which typically lasts for about 15 minutes, then it stops and all is ok providing it doesn't get cold again. This noise is very loud and can be heard outside the house for up to 25m away. My neighbours have now started complaining. The noise is definitely coming from inside the boiler and not from the 3-port valve close by. If I set the boiler to hot water only (indirect cylinder) it doesn't do it, but if I then switch it to heat the radiators it soon starts. I wondering if something inside the boiler has worked loose, or if it's a resonance problem which Glow Worm might be aware of. Any suggestions anyone?
