May sound daft, but what is the correct way to run it. All thermostats on timers.
Just had a gas bill and i nearly passed out!!

Should it be run in the morning then in evening as per conventional heating, if so how long for?

i am not the best with underfloor but here goes

it should be zoned and run at a constant low temp

you best await other replies tho as others are better informed

I do have it Zoned, running at 40 degrees. Just unsure if it is cheaper to have on constant rather than having the programmer switch it off in mornings and evening. Thought it would be cheaper to run, but not the way i,m running it.

Programmable thermostats set properly - no off times, just 4 degree set back from comfort.

What boiler do you have? How big is the property? is it properly insulated? What is the hot water demands? How is the hot water generated?

Have you compared the gas bill to other properties similar to yours?

So set at 17 degrees (21 comfort) not sure it would ever come on

What boiler do you have?
Ultracom 30 EXI
How big is the property?
4 Bed
is it properly insulated?
Yes

With a megaflow

Yes owned a similar property far less gas with conventional rads

Well i understand that comfort is 21 degrees. I have stats set at 21 degrees for when i want it on , then eco setting 17 degrees for when it is off. Are you saying set stats to 17 degrees as a "on temp". If i did, i doubt the heating would come on. 17 degrees is not ideally a comfort temp is it?

SO , should i set programmer stats to on continuous but have desired temp at 17 degrees no higher?

It wasn't clear what you were setting it to form your post.

It looked like you thought that even at 21 it wouldn't bring the heating on.

Still.

Try setting the comfort to 20.

As I mentioned you need programmable stats with some form of optimisation.

Your boiler is also oversized (I would imagine) and will not run as efficiently as it should.

Do you still think it should be on continuous rather than having off periods on programmable stats

Not entirely sure what you mean
"Programmable thermostats set properly - no off times, just 4 degree set back from comfort."

Firstly if it is set on continuous what is the point in a programmable stat?
4 degrees set back from comfort is not 20 degrees..

Think i,m missing something here.

You don't say how much your gas bill was and whether it is estimated or not

Boiler power is fine as these modulate down to about 5kw.

You should try to run the system on comfort setting for most of the day normally 7am to 11pm and then setback for the night duration.

The house should take about 24 hours on the night setback temp before you noticed the temp falling.

You need to check that the blending valve on the underfloor is set to between 30 and 40 degrees.

Check that the discharge pipe from you megaflow is not dripping at anytime. ( have you followed the 5 point instructions the side to check the air bubble is full of air)

Check thatthe flow setting on the boiler is not more than 70 degrees but you should be able to run it at 65.

The bill was after i gave a meter reading following 3 months of estimates.
Basically works out my monthly gas bill is £200
Blending valve is set to 40.
The Megaflow is only 3 months old.
