Hi

I want to install engineered wood flooring in my newly developed flat which has electric underfloor heating, and I am wondering whether I need any underlay or insulation beneath the wood flooring?

As it is right, there is a layer of 5-6mm mdf boards on top of the electric underfloor heating mats.

I am wondering whether an extra layer of underlay may reduce the efficiency of the heating and also concerned that the heating may damage underlays such as foam.

Are there also regulations that I need to take into consideration?

many thanks in advance

If you're flat is not a groundfloor flat, the new regulations insists on you using proper sound insulation with hardfloor covering.
It's best to ask the supllier of the electric underfloor heating first which kind of underlayment they recommend (before we 'burn our fingers' ;) )
