Hi - i'm installing a laminate floor in a ground floor openplan lounge/dining room. The floorboards have been overlayed by chipboard to level them by the previous owners. I'm putting down quickstep.
Question is - which underlay to use? There seems to be a lot of conflicting advice, regarding foil or no foil, how thick etc.
My old builder recommends Howdens underlay.
Any thoughts gratefully received!
Thanks

Thanks - not really anything special.
Needs to keep noise to a minimum and keep the room warm (no underfloor heating).
should I use fibreboard or a foil-backed underlay? I am concerned that damp condensation might be a problem with the foil?

If you have no special requirements over than noise reduction of foot traffic, then just about any standard underlay will do.
I would personally be happy to recommend using 3mm foam, relatively inexpensive and does the job!
