What would you recomend as an underlay for a hessian backed carpet that is to be laid ontop of a rock ashpalt floor.

They probably are breezer but what underlay would you recommend

i was going to say "get as good anormal underlay for carpets as you can afford, the underlay does make a lot of difference

Thanks for the replies but the problem lies with the solid asphalt floor ?,are most types of underlay suitable or do I require a certain type.

Are you saying you have bitumen on floor screed ?

The floors are made of what is termed rock asphalt,similar to bituemen.

Either put down some heavy duty paper roll or hardboard to protect the underlay.
