hi. Im trying to find out why the RCD in my house will randomly trip day or night.
sometimes i can turn it straight back on and everything will be fine, however sometimes you have to push it up a few times for it to stay on.
I would appreciate any help and info on what i can do to find the cause of the problem. thank you

I'd guess it's probably not an circuit breaker, but an RCD.

That would imply one of three causes:

  • Faulty RCD
    Faulty Wiring (Insulation fault)
    Faulty Appliance
If it trips intermittently then it's difficult to locate the fault without test equipment.

Either unplug everything, and switch off anything not plugged in at the FCU or other switch on the wall, and see if the tripping stops or run some insulation resistance tests at 500V on each circuit.

I had fathomed that from the acronym RCD from your first post

Which circuits does said RCD cover?

Are there any outside circuits - i.e. security lights?

could be many things as already stated but a wild stab in the dark would be..... fridge/freezer compressor or perhapes the heating.
