My system is valiant ecotec plus 428, unistor 310, vr 65 vrt 360 f
grundfos 15/60 pump. Recently due to my boiler breaking down I was left with no hot water. I was asking central heating engineers if it was possible to have an electric element fitted as a back up. Some say yes others no. I see the unistor has what looks like a blanking plate for 2nd element. any help would be great and clear up my confusion.
cheers

It did come with a element, but engineer said it was disconected and since it has vr 65 vrt 360 f, this would be removed and put system back to controlling hot water with a hot water stat.

I think your installer is confused, the immersion heater is independant of the vr65, if he has removed the cylinder stat to use an ntc it does not affect the immersion which has its own stat,

ask your installer to wire in the immersion as emergency back up.
