I've just come home from work after all the rain we've had today to two marks on my stairs/landing which I've never seen before (even with previous rain), both spots are wet to touch.
And then another very large and wet water mark to the inside of my landing window.

Any advice on either/both of these would be gratefully received, as I'm going to be worrying about these all night!
Thanks.

This is the only pic I could take as haven't got access to a ladder.
I'm not sure if I can see a dark shadow on the bricks! And there are more marks this morning

I will take some pics in the morning as will be dark when I get home. Will it be worth going into the loft also?
Sorry, I've only been in the house a year on my own and previously lived with my husband so feel out of my depths!

Certainly worth looking in the loft, and soon before any moisture has a chance to dry out.

Your photo of the stain at the inside of the Venetian blind window, looks as if that might be ingress through a poorly sealed double glazing unit. Could you manage photo of that side of the window from outside?

I haven't got access to a ladder to take a pic of the window but will need to attention them!

@foxhole yes the bricks are painted from when I moved into the property.
Is re pointing expensive?

The paint won’t help as it traps any moisture getting into brickwork slowing drying so water emerges inside instead of drying off the exterior surface.
