Unseen sides of shed

I’ve got two sides of my shed that won’t be visible. I’m wondering what would be an appropriate finish for these sides. The shed will be constructed with stud walls and 9mm osb on top. This will then be wrapped with a breathable membrane.

Could I use hollow soffit for this? If yes, should I batten the wall first? Wasn’t sure if it’s necessary for these sides and that it’s a shed. Also, will it make the soffit boards flimsy if fixed to battens instead of the membrane and solid osb.

Can I please have some advice on this.

soffit boards are pretty much water tight as they are a good fit with a 12mm overlap lip at the back and iff a close fairly protected surface would expect virtually no penetration

if you are talking horizontal then a minimum 9mm baton vertical screwed /nailed on say 25mm wide every 400 to 550mmwould give airflow and enough support with quality silicon in continuos thick is say 6 to 10mm bead firmly pressed no physical fixings but mechanical support iff required to stop planks sliding or slumping down

you can also use vertical but batons to space off would then be pointless as just ledges for moisture to sit on so 3 or 4 blobs over the the 300mm width every again 400 to 550mm top to bottom with in my opinion no further breathable layer at or just behind the outside cladding as its full impermeable
in my opinion it will be fine unless frequent impact from heavy objects like may happen like footballs and similar kids action other wise will be fine

a question to ask
you need around 400-600mm to to operate between fence and building otherwise you need an open frame to hang through from the inside working from the inside

I plan to have the soffit boards running horizontally and can fix them to 9mm batons, spaced ever 400. Same as the studs for the wall?
I am unclear on the role of silicon here. Can you please clarify.
I assumed that the soffit boards will be screwed into the aforementioned battens (on the upper lip, which means it will be hidden when the next board slides into this lip).

Also, if the boards are completely water tight, is the airflow and need for battens necessary for a shed?

I will build the wall, complete with this cladding and then stand in position, next to the fence.

you can not use any fixings other than through the face with large washers as the cladding has no real surface strength

and not suitable for blind nailing for the same reason so adhesive off some sort the choice the tongues are hollow as ar the whole panel

its your choice really but with with the batons in place iff any water does get through it will be 90% sure to just run down the back surface off the cladding
