A slightly unusual question (I think) if I may please ?

I spend a lot of time in my home office and sometimes the Good Lady needs me to help her with various things but she is usually in another room. At the moment she has to walk to the office and inform me personally and it is a bit of a nuisance for her. All I need is some sort of arrangement whereby she can press a button on some sort of gizmo that would activate a light in my office and whenever I saw that I would know that I have to go and find her and see what she needs.

It’s not something that she would want to have to carry around with her all the time, just something that could sit on a surface that was cordless that she could walk to rather than having to come all the way to the office. I know she could ‘phone me on her mobile but I wanted something simpler than that, just something where you press a button on something in one room and it brings a light on in another. A small torch-light thing would do the trick.

Thanks in advance for any ideas/leads etc.

Thanks in advance for any help and/or advice.

There’s a couple of options. One relatively cheap, less than £20 at the link below, the other being trading in the wife for a new model that needs less from you. This would be the more expensive option but likely still worth giving some thought too.

You can use an Alexa/Echo Dot in each room to message each other and talk, or even your mobile phones.
I often have conversations with my wife via mobile phone before I need to pop down from the attic where I dwell in the evenings :)

Thank you for that. I have thought long and hard about your suggestion of trading in the Wife but frankly I think it would be very expensive. She is very high mileage and the bodywork and the chassis are both rather deteriorated and because the MOT (Men Ogling Test) is due very shortly I think I have no option but to keep her. She does everything that I need nowadays and I think in this instance it is a case of if it aint broke, don't fix it. Having written all that I often fancy having a go with one of those racier models that you see about these days. I have seen some amazing 0-60 MPH (Man's Position Horizontal) figures.

Look up wireless caregiver alarm for lots of solutions, normally based on a re-badged noisy doorbell.

But as you requested a 'illuminated light' how about this likely over cheap Chinese item. But I am not sure the light latches on until reset.

So other option is one of these where the socket is used to illuminate a stand alone light (perhaps with a bat shaped cutout).

Thank you for those links. I will investigate them.

Thank you but I would prefer a solution that just flashes a light momentarily.
