Not your typical occurance really......the Citroen 1.6 Hdi engine has a steel dipstick tube at the front of the block. Nothing unusual in that.
However, the darn thing is prone to vibration fracture in two places - the tube snaps in two and the securing bracket breaks off, so the tube flops around, sprays oil everywhere and you cant check the oil level :eek:
Not the sort of thing you expect to find when you pop the bonnet!
A swine to replace too - took me over an hour with a 1/4" drive universal joint and an 8" wobble bar. Not funny!

Bring back the Morris Minor John, mind you to change the oil pump on one of those you have to remove the gearbox :eek:

BMC A-Series. Remember them well! To remove the front main bearing cap meant removing the timing cover because there were (IIRC) two bolts holding the front engine plate located in the main bearing cap! Stupid or what!

Same with the original Mini. . . :)
Mind you they did put a notch in the fan cowl to let you change the fan belt without pulling the engine.
