Wasn't sure which section to put this one in...

My up-and-over garage door doesn't stay up in windy weather. The frame isn't quite square and there are gaps at the side.
When driving my car into the garage it sometimes slides down a couple of inches. There is a danger of scraping the car roof.
Not such a problem with my old banger. But I am buying a newer, taller car.

Any ideas for fixing a bracket that will hold the door open while I drive in?
Come to think of it, a bungee cord attached to the roof might be worth a try.

Think of a large tower bolt, fixed to the door that slides into it's keep when the door is fully open?
The same bolt can be used to provide some internal security, if there's another exit.
John :)

They've got a big coil spring at the top of the door, it needs tightened. Beware there's a fair tension on it and you're supposed to use the correct tools. Personally I'd start by squaring the frame.

Thanks for the replies.
Current thinking about a low tech solution. Bang a rubber bung in the channel where the "arms" move up and down.
