I hope someone can point me in the right direction...

I'm having problems with the heating upstairs in my house. I have a Honeywell Sundial Y Plan valve in one of the bedrooms, which won't come on when I operate the switch on the control panel which is situated downstairs. It will however come on if I pull the lever on the valve manually.

I thought that it was the motor which was faulty, so I replaced that today. Unfortunately this hasn't rectified the problem. The valve will turn off when I switch it off from the control unit downstairs, but it won't come on unless I operate the lever manually.

I'd be most grateful if anyone more knowledgable than my self (I have really basic DIY skills) could shed some light on this for me.

Thanks in advance.

Remove the valve head and check the spindle is free to move.

I personally never change the motor only, always put a new head on.
