Upvc door handle sticking after locking

The handle on our back door has started sticking after raising it to engage the bolts. It remains vertical instead of returning to the horizontal position and needs to be pushed back down into place (it doesn't require a lot of force to do this).

I don't think the door is misaligned as the problem happens whether the door is open or closed.

Any thoughts?
