I have difficulty locking my white upvc door in the summer when it's hot, as it seems to swell up.
I notice that the plastic 'bearing' on the 4 hinges has worn significantly (on all four). Can I 'adjust' them in some way ?
Hinge --> http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v651/obvious123/upper_mid_web.jpg
I looked on screwfix for replacement hinges, but they are the wrong size (width & depth are the same as current hinge, but height of my hinge is longer - by 16mm - product number : 66385) .
Is it possible to replace the 4 hinges with new ones - even if smaller than originals ?
My concern is that the current hinges are screwed into the upvc frame so what does the screw bed into ? If it's wood, then that's easy enough to do, but if it's metal lugs or something, then presumably the new hinges would have to be aligned somehow with the proper lugs ?
I don't mind replacing the hinges, I just don't know if it will work & I don't want to make the door any worse than it already is ...
Any advice would be appreciated ... thanks
