I'm slowly getting down to the 'minor' issues in the house we bought last year - this is one of them.

On our front door, the barrel is about 2mm too short of being flush with the plate and about 0.5-1mm of meeting the plate (which is the issue)

It seems entirely secure and locks fine, but it doesn't look great and when it's mid-winter, it lets in a draught.

Is there anything that can be done to pack-out or fill the gap?

I've had the lock out and there's no way it will move 'further inward' as the bolt that fixes the barrel to the door (from the side of the door) has no 'play' or movement.

(I've searched on line a lot to try to find an answer, but all I can find is people who are trying to fill in a gap where a lock 'was' - not a gap between the barrel length and the handle plate)

All I can think of is:
1) Replace the lock
2) 'Fill' the gap with something (not great, but..)
3) Replace the door handle/plate with a slimmer profile.

Cheers,

Well that is arguably the best make of lock on the market at the moment but it has been measured wrong.
A new ABS one will cost you £30-50 depending on where you get it. (ebay is good).
Here is a quick guide on measuring http://www.handlestore.com/blog/measuring-a-euro-cylinder-lock-barrel/

Its easiest to measure with the lock removed (but remember to add on a bit on the side that is short). With the ABS locks they have an internal and external so make sure you make a note of that.
The lock can protrude as much as you want on the inside (2-10mm would be fine) its the outside that is important for security, Ideally you want no more than 2mm sticking out.
