Hi All

Just wondered whether anyone knew of a simple technique to identify which locking points are binding on a UPVC door.

During the recent hot, dry spell, locking our front door resulted in a definite "catch" as you pushed up the handle. This only happened whilst the door was exposed to full sun, and once it cooled down the problem resolved itself.

The mechanism has never yet failed to lock, and with the door open, the locks operate smoothly. Its an intermittent problem, but I'd like to make the necessary adjustments in case the problem causes permanent damage.

TIA.

Thanks for your response.

Having given the matter further thought, I actually did that before reading your post and quickly found the offending striker. It appears that whoever fitted it put one of the two fixing screws through the plastic frame into the metal reinforcement, but the other at an angle so that it missed the metal altogether, hence it was slightly off centre.
