I know this was asked in 2010, but wondered if there is any solution, can’t afford to replace my double glazing, even though it’s 19 years old.
The window frames have the veneer peeling at some of the ends, wonder if contact adhesive would be the solution, also not sure how to flatten the veneer to look better.

the two doors veneer has developed bubbles and crinkling, but only on the frame, but been told that this frame ‘style’ was discontinued in 2012, and I can’t get a replacement frame for my existing doors, going to be expensive replacing both doors and frames.

in the old days, the paint was stripped off and repainted, and windows had the putty replaced, nowadays with DG everything is so expensive and unrepairable

any help advice would be appreciated

thanks

Vinyl uses a heat sensitive adhesive, so it may be possible to prick the bubbles with the tip of a scalpel and force the air out by rollering towards the cut using a hard seam roller. Do this on a warmish afternoon as the stuff is brittle when very cold. A hair dryer can add extra heat if needs be, but don't overdo it. It's a technique used by signwriters on van vinyls

Thank you, that sounds good advice, wish I could buy this veneer foil as a strip, searched the internet can’t find anywhere

tyanks

You probably can, but if the quantities are anything like they are for other self-adhesive tape it will come in 5000m rolls, about 1200mm wide and then gets slit on request. And then there is the issue of colour matching

We have (had) a local supplier in Rochdale who's main line was packaging tapes slit to size and wound onto your own (generally printed) cores, and they did indeed start with a massive roll and would slit to width for you - including (at the time) a limited range vehicle graphics vinyls slit to length

Edit: I just found them ATC. Don't know if you are near enough, but maybe a local signwriter might be able to sell you some appropriate vinyl

I’ve emailed ATC thanks
I’ve also emailed DG waiting to see how much help they can offer, this veneer as egging must be available somewhere ‍♀️

Most if not all foils for the DG upvc industry are made by a German company called Renolit, this is specialised stuff and not sold to the general public, this isn't like buying a roll of fablon and sticking it on, on site in situ foil repairs are new to the market and I didn't even know it was possible till I Google searched it
