Hello

We have a long length of uPVC guttering with a connecting piece which keeps coming undone. Is this because of the guttering shrinking?

Anyway, I thought about getting a longer length so that the connector would not be required? But not sure if it is possible to get guttering lengths over 4m?

Is metal better?

Perhaps a stronger connector?

Anyone got any suggestions?

Almost certainly your guttering has been cut to short. flo plas do a union/ joint that is wider than most, measure your old one first it will be much easier to replace the union/joint.

is the union fixed? i see it a lot with fitters who skip or just forget to pop a screw in the union. usually string line to get fall and fix all the brackets and unions go on when you start putting gutter up. with expansion and contraction the union can creep along and one end pops out. more so on black guttering.
