I currently have a front porch 2800w x 900 d, timber framed which supports a hip tiled roof, basically a square bay.

The softwood timber frame is rotten so i bought a replacement in reinforced upvc including 2 corner post also reinforced.

I have a wall plate on the house and top of the frame which rafters run and tiles layed.

Ive calculated the tiles in the roof weigh 250kgs total spread over the entire porch size.

Looking at the front theres a door frame in the middle (900mm), a window either side (880mm), a corner post at each end for a 900 return

My question is, will the corner post need bay jacks with this weight?

It would be a good idea as the bay post point load is only on the cill , where a bay jack takes the load through to the brick work beneath the cill, it would also be advisable to ask what loads the posts have been tested to, to ensure they are adequate to carry the load through to the base
