UPVC Window Add ons?

Hi there

Can anyone tell me whether it's possible to get mid frame add-ons to existing uPVC windows? Bit difficult to explain without drawing, but I have existing uPVC windows but like the idea of dividing the window pane up into segments without the massive cost of replacing them all!!!
Hope this makes some kind of sense?

You can get various styles of UPVC trim which I suppose you could stick on the inside/outside with low modulus silicone but it will probably look totally naff! You can also get divided glass units which are effectively a single pane with decorative dividers (e.g. Georgian, lead light) but that would involve replacing the glass units &, in my opinion, would only look slightly less naff!

Cheers for the info. So really then the only way round would be to replace the windows entirely - no idea on cost but presume we are talking thousands? - ball park figure - 2 bed mid terrace house (2 windows displayed on front, three / four windows at back.

Good quality windows are not as expensive as you might think if you use a good local company; say £250 - £350 per window, installed. Avoid the large nationals who, mostly, have far higher prices & don’t offer any better quality (& sometimes a lot worse!) but you need to choose carefully. Inspect the quality of the product & installation before you decide &, preferably, use a FENSA company as it saves you all the hassle of dealing with building control. Make sure they give you the necessary paperwork & get an independent 10 year warranty if you can. Make sure they list exactly what’s included in the quote, pay as little as you can get away with up front (no more than 20%) & don’t pay the balance until you’re fully satisfied.

Ok thanks a lot for the info, will keep you updated. Was reading a thread on this forum re purchasing windows on fleabay - so if I work out my measurements I might get myself a better deal as £250 + per window really isn't a feasible option at the moment.

Personally I would be very wary of buying anything I couldn't look at before hand, just make sure it complies with current regs! Don't forget that if you go the DIY route, you should notify BC & get that all important certificate of compliance from them or you could have problems in the future when you come to sell!
