Why does the site generate URLs which it will not accept in posts?

e.g. //www.diynot.com/diy/search/1289027/?q=remove+gu10&o=relevance&c[node]=8


A host identified by an Internet Protocol literal address, version 6
[RFC3513] or later, is distinguished by enclosing the IP literal
within square brackets ("[" and "]"). This is the only place where
square bracket characters are allowed in the URI syntax.

Just hit this problem again, and again it was with a search.

This is a pretty ridiculous situation.

It's not simply me making a point about the validity of URLs - the way this site makes it impossible to paste searches into posts and have them work, so as to help someone find useful information, has real-world drawbacks.


PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

I have been looking into this and it is obviously a bug in the way the links & bbcode are handled (square brackets indicate bbcode as you know). This has been fixed and will be rolled out in the next update of the forum in a week or two.
