Finalised in record time with the EU...

No mention of the UK...

So what happened to that 'special relationship'?

And what about all those 'easiest in history' deals that were apparently lined up to be signed after brexit?

Oh that's right, with no influence in Europe the UK is now a 'bit player' as far as the rest of the world is concerned!

You mean LNG from the US - well we don't really need much gas from the US, though we could use some because we do have the plant to receive it unlike some others - eg Germany.
Italy comes after Germany as R gas user , then France, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland, Austria and Slovakia. Netherlands can process LNG so they may become EU's importer.
Netherlands is major user of R's oil, too.
Of course we'll be sharing our resources with our EU friends... won't we??

USA has been ramping up LNG production for a while now, so they aren't starving themselves:

why would there be any mention of UK we dont need anymore LNG from US than we already get from them and as for the german part of the deal that wont happen for another 2 or 3 years and billions spent putting in LNG ports and facilities

One of your best fails yet. LOL.

Really?

So if the UK doesn't use much LNG and there is a 'deal' in place already, then why go cap in hand to Qatar for LNG?

As the EU starts to wean itself off energy supplies from a despotic regime that has no regard for human rights, then the UK is happy it seems to kow tow to another despotic regime that also has no regard for human rights...

The US prefers to deal with the 'big boys', not the small fry...

And besides...

"A bilateral trade deal between the US and the UK is “desirable” but will not progress while the Northern Ireland peace deal is being used for domestic political purposes, one of the most powerful American congressmen has warned.
Richard Neal, the chairman of the ways and means committee, has told the Guardian: “We will not entertain a trade agreement if there is any jeopardy to the Good Friday agreement."

"Neal, who has taken a keen interest in Northern Ireland over the past three decades, is a key figure in US trade deals and negotiated the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement.
His committee writes trade bills and without its support a deal will not be approved."

Do keep up!

The UK has been importing LNG from the US for years. Europe imports much less, if any at all for most countries, because they don't need to - they pipe it over the border from Russia.

So if the UK doesn't use much LNG and there is a 'deal' in place already, then why go cap in hand to Qatar for LNG?

We didn't go 'cap in hand' to Qatar, we cut a deal with them to supply more gas via our existing terminals so that the 5% we import from Russia can be stopped, sorted out quite a few weeks, in fact Liz Truss started the ball rolling last October, Qatar is already a major shareholder in the South Hook LNG terminal in Wales.

As for the EU deal, I doubt Biden gave them much choice, EU reliance on Russian gas is insanity, Trump was saying years ago it would end in tears, it did.

then the UK is happy it seems to kow tow to another despotic regime that also has no regard for human rights...

Most Arab countries are to a greater or lesser degree, despotic, most Arab countries have large amounts of oil and gas.

Seems the USA has matched Quatar's production already. CNN report though. The eventual number Biden mentioned on gas gets now where near Europe's usage and price not mentioned. Around 1/3 - pretty roughly.

There is no short term fix and renewable has to figure. Hydrogen has been mentioned as well. So once again insulation and heat pumps are seen as being needed. The beeb reported with more detail than some. ;) Look forward to loosing them.

The whole thing means debt. The only sane use of heat pumps in my view needs this

The UK is OK.
It has enough natural resources to be energy independent.

If you believe that crap, you will believe anything.

That is all good stuff, in the long term the Russians are going to have be brought into the mix.
