Use of Plumbers White tape

I am new to this plumbing,but not diy.
I am intending to replace 2 toilet systerns and ballcocks and get the general idea but wondered how much of the white plumbers tape you wrap around the thread which attaches to the water supply.Just one layer or more?
Any other advice on this job gratefully accepted.

Ive never counted but its probably about 2.5 & go the opposite way to the tread. (I wont unravel then)
