Using a PIR in the Bathroom - advice?

A mate of mine has his shower extractor fan controlled by PIR at my suggestion, although despite being masked off for all areas other than the shower cubicle, it does occasionally trigger itself for no apparent reason. It's not repeatable enough to diagnose the fault, so might just be due to a cheap or dodgy PIR, draughts from the radiator, etc. I don't expect he paid much for it, so perhaps it's just a case of you get what you pay for, but it's still something to be aware of.

We had one at one shop that just triggered itself for no reason all the time. One morning, the new duty manager **** herself when she saw through the door window into the canteen and the lights were on  Thought someone had been locked in or burglars

Heh. Did you ever find out why it did that?

Nope. Just faulty I think. heater went off at night with timer, so cant have been that (it was set to come on at 6:10am, we always were in by 6am before the heater). Just gives new staff a fright when they are working 1-on-1 and they go in the back and the canteen lights on
