Hi,

in our kitchen, we're looking to make use of our existing chimney as part of the extractor system for above the cooker. The chimney has a very good draw on it. Our house has 2 floors with the kitchen being on the ground floor.

Is this possible? What do we need to do, to ensure we don't have any issues?

Thanks
Tony

to do a proper job, you would have to line the chimney with a duct. Otherwise, the steam from cooking will cause condensation and damp in the brickwork, and the greasy fumes will coat it with smelly grease that will attract flies and rodents, and would burn well in the event of a fire, and will drip down into the hood or cooker.

Both will eventually soak through and show through the decoration on the walls.

Agree with John, would need an extra inline fan if drawing a great distance.
