hi,
we're currently in the process of removing an old drive that has been layed in the past.
i am thinking of adding some of the old ballast/hardcore and compacting then adding some postcrete to the post holes that i've dug out ready to start a decking project.
is this ok-i'm thinking it will add strength maybe?....
thankyou......

Nothing wrong with your idea at all. I've got an arbour in my garden that's held with compacted hardcore and no cement or concrete at all and I haven't had any problems with it at all. The decking you talk about will be tied together anyway so concreting the posts really isn't necessary.
